What to wear for your pre-shoot

A pre-shoot is not a fashion shoot. The point is to get comfortable in front of a camera before the day that matters, and clothes have a lot to do with whether that happens.
Choose movement over structure
Fabric that moves photographs beautifully — linen, chiffon, soft cotton. Stiff, heavily structured pieces tend to wear you rather than the other way round.
Two outfits is plenty
One relaxed, one considered. More than that and we spend the morning changing instead of shooting.
Avoid
- Large logos and busy prints — they date faster than anything else
- Brand-new shoes, unless you enjoy blisters
- Anything you have to keep adjusting
Think about where we are going
Hill-country mist in the early morning is genuinely cold. Beaches are windy and sandy. A tea estate at sunrise needs layers you can take off as the sun comes up. Tell me the location and I will tell you honestly what will work.
